Visual Identity
Overview
The Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association creates a positive public image, in part, through a consistent visual design approach. By regularly using certain colors, fonts, and document designs, the organization creates an impression of unity, organization, and strategic thinking.
This visual identity guide will provide downloadable resources, references, and templates to help create a more unified look and feel for CIAA materials.

Typography
CIAA publications and website use the Noto Serif and Fira Sans fonts available for free download from Google Fonts.
These fonts can be substituted with the more common Arial and Times New Roman for internal, every day use.
Noto Serif
The text above is 36 points, the minimum size for using the Noto Serif headline font.
Noto Serif is reserved for signs, large headlines, and major section headings.
Do not use Noto as the body text in documents. Use Fira Sans or Times New Roman.

FIRA SANS EXTRA CONDENSED
The three typefaces in the Fira Sans family each have seven weights.
Fira Sans is a versatile font for section headers, charts, buttons, signs, and other short content.
Installation
WINDOWS
- Download the font package
- Uncompress the package
- Search for “fonts” in the Start Menu or go to Start → Control Panel → Appearance and Personalization → Fonts
- Select all fonts and drag them into the Fonts folder
MAC
- Download the font
- Double click on the package to uncompress it
- Open Font Book (Go to Finder → Applications → Font Book)
- Select all of the font files and drag them to the Font column (i.e., the second column) of Font Book
Colors
Please use the exact color values for each of the four CIAA colors.
Use absolute values for black and white. Use percentages of black or single-digit hex codes (i.e. #AAAAAA) to create contrasting grays.
Use Blue for all CIAA logos and main design elements. Flat Blue is an acceptable alternative to create contrast or background colors.
Always display text as Black or White with the highest possible contrast against the background. Use colored text as little as possible.

Usage
Before you grab a logo, please read this guide to graphics formats.
- JPG is the most popular format used for displaying images in print and online, but it will always have a white background. Use this one on white backgrounds.
- PNG is an up-and-coming alternative to JPGs. Its transparent background means no ugly white boxes in photos or on color designs.
- EPS is based on shapes instead of dots. Your text and drawing will be crystal clear at any resolution. Use this in Word and PowerPoint documents. Also, give this file to graphic designers. They will be able to use professional apps to adjust color and incorporate it into signs, t-shirts, publications, and other designs.
Please do not squeeze or stretch the logo to fit tight spaces. Don't change its color or force it to work with other logos. Don't take it apart to design your own.

Use this logo in standalone locations (signs, letterhead, business cards, etc). Do not combine with other logos or designs.
